“Is today good?”

“What day would you prefer?”

NO!!!! NO NO NO!

The script is:

“So the way it works is we’ll send a plumber to see the work and what’s involved. Once he knows what he has to do, he can discuss the price. If you choose to proceed, that is the price you will pay. If you decline, and only then, we charge a $40 fee to cover our plumbers time and gas. Does today between <11 and 2> work?”

or

“Are you available today between <11 and 2>?”

I want specificity.

If you ask “Does today work?”… It’s so easy to ay no.

Most people want to plan out their day in advance… They don’t like surprises… They prefer to mentally prefer.

I understand that.

BUT.

It’s our job to fill our guys schedules. We need to take the lead, steer our customers to what is best for us.

If they say “Oh no, that doesn’t work.” Offer a later appointment today. If they say “No, today is no good.” Then offer tomorrow. If tomorrow is no good, offer the next day. And, finally, if you need to, ask what day is best for them.

But our job is to lead them to the next available appointment.

If our guys aren’t working, then they’re not generating revenue. We cannot operate if we are not generating revenue. Our responsibility is to fill the soonest available next openings first. Always.
